Amy Smart was an American model as well as actress. Born and brought up in California USA she started her modelling professional career in Italy. She began her acting career at the age of 16 in the TV movie Her Costly Affair. The struggle she had to get an appearance in Starship Troopers, a film with mainly minor roles was extremely intense. It was a difficult transition for Amy as she had transition from modelling to the acting profession. Models aren't regarded as the best actors so they tend to play smaller, less important roles. Yet, somehow Amy was determined to keep going and began to take on bigger roles eventually starting with the series The 70s and the film Varsity Blues. Amy later stepped into lead roles in the romantic comedy Just Friends starring Ryan Reynolds. It was a huge commercial success, and Amy was finally able to get the recognition that she was trying for for more than 10 years. She then continued to appear in several of the most famous movies, including the Crank series with Jason Statham as well as Shameless in which she played a recognizable character.
